You can keep the rectangle that you built in your two arm handstand from your wrist to your hips. Only the position of your legs will change when you change position, while the rectangle stays strong. These one arms involve shifting weight from two arms to one arm keeping the form you built in your two arm handstand. In the tutorials, the ‘basic positions’ refers to straddle, tuck, 45 and full position.
